At the time of writing, work on the restoration project for the War Memorial, funded by the Parish Council, is about to recommence.

The proposed Neighbourhood Plan for Stanstead Abbotts and Stanstead Margarets (which also includes part of the parish of Great Amwell) was put to a referendum. The overwhelming majority of people who voted supported the proposed Plan.

Car Boot sales on land off the A1170 (Bridgeman’s Field) have recommenced for the 2026 year. A total of 28 sales can be held in a calendar year. The site for the sales and associated car parking is clearly defined in the approved planning permission. The Parish Council will continue to monitor the use of this green belt land to ensure, hopefully, no breaches of planning control.

The Government formally consulted on proposals for local government reorganisation in Hertfordshire. The deadline for the submission of comments on the proposals was 26 March 2026. The Parish Council should support the four unitary authority option identified by the Government.

Great Amwell Parish Council meets every month (second Thursday). However, no meeting is held in August.
